In Marc Meyers' English-language remake of Paolo Virzì's 2013 film - both based on Stephen Amidon's 2004 novel of the same name - the fates of two families intersect following a tragic car accident in which a cyclist ends up in hospital due to a hit-and-run.
The story revolves around two families, one belonging to the middle class and the other very wealthy, who help each other to protect their social status. The lives of these two families become intertwined when their children, who are in a relationship, cause a terrible accident.
